Star Fluxx is one of several Fluxx card games offered. We've played 3 others so far, and I think this is our favorite at the moment, though I think they are all different and fun enough to enjoy on their own.
2-6 players.
Recommended ages are 8 and up. (I think this is about right, not necessarily just the game play, but pop culture/geek culture references may be above a younger child's head)
The game time varies widely.
We play this with the 9 year old and 11 year old. The 5 year old doesn't quite "get" it yet. Though she enjoys helping.
The game starts off with the Basic Rules Fluxx games always start with. Draw a card. Play a card.
The Goal is ever changing, as always.
The Keepers (good stuff) are all people, aliens, mechanical objects, space stuff. Some of them have special abilities. The Engineer, for example, can remove Malfunctions (Creepers) from mechanical Keepers.
Creepers, unless otherwise specified, prevent the player from winning the game, even if they have met the requirements in the goal. Unlike other Fluxx games I've played, in this one, Creepers attach to specific Keepers. Organic creatures can get Brain Parasites, machines can Malfunction and anything can be Evil (Muhahahahaha!)
There are several interesting Actions in the deck, and Surprises can interfere with another players Actions. We use both, a lot.
Overall, we give this game:
Papa Bear: 9.5/10
Heathen Homesteader: 8/10
Zizzy: 8/10 (age 11)
Fox: 9/10 (age 9)
Would we play again? Absolutely!
